Prayer - Study - Work: how Chilworth's Benedictine monks live their monastic life
Prayer - Study - Work: watch this short video which shows how monks making and selling beeswax beauty products for their Abbey Shop helps create the important balance needed in their monastic life at the Catholic Benedictine monastery of St Augustine's Abbey, Chilworth in the glorious Surrey Hills near Guildford.
Featuring Benedictine monk Fr John Seddon OSB, with filming by Brian O'Connell, the reel explains how one moment the monks are carrying out their absolute daily priority of praying, as monks have done for centuries, often in Latin. Then, when they are not in prayer, they fit in everything else that's needed in their daily life - including going online to sell the products they have made worldwide using ulta modern mobile technology. The contrast here between the ancient and the modern is very evident.
