Devotion to Our Lady of Montserrat
Coming soon to St Augustine's Abbey, Chilworth
St Augustine’s Abbey, Chilworth and the Abbey of Montserrat are members of the same Benedictine Congregation (the Subiaco-Cassinese Congregation).
The Abbot of Chilworth is a personal friend of the Abbot of Montserrat as they were both students together in Rome. In a recent visit to Montserrat, Abbot Paulinus brought back a statue of Our Lady of Montserrat in order to foster a devotion to her in the Abbey church at Chilworth. There are only three or four statues of the Black Madonna offered for public devotion in the United Kingdom.
If you'd like to help us fund the part conversion of one of our side chapels to do this, please kindly make a General Donation here. Thank you.
